Espirito Drum stocks two different mallets for Bahia surdos: wood and aluminum. They are the extra-long sticks used for samba-reggae and axé. The wooden stick has good balance and good weight for the heavier bass parts; the aluminum stick is light and fast for staccato rolls and complex patterns. The soft heads of both mallets reduce noisy overtones.
